Wellness Care
Why continue with care after the symptoms have eased?
Most people come into our office for Ishta spinal Touch with a major symptom
of pain or discomfort somewhere, usually in the back, neck or a joint.
After the symptoms have eased do they still need to come?
Here I would like to explain why wellness care works and why we all need
it.
Relief
Initially the recipient is looking for relief from symptoms. So, the initial
care plan usually involves a series of weekly appointments which are extended
to a point where the structures has stabilised. Each visit is building on
the ones before.
Maintenance
Once the symptoms have eased some recipients may feel that they do not need
to continue with care. However, for long term relief and management of their
structure offering a programme of wellness care is the next step in maintaining
their healing process. You need to decide with your recipient if they want
to continue building on the progress so far or wait for the next bout of
back or joint ache to recur.
Wellness
If the wellness care plan is chosen, which we feel is the best option and
the least expensive in the long term, then a new programme of care needs
to be worked out with them.
Wellness care involves treatments at less frequent intervals. These treatments
will aim, over an extended period of time, to retrain the muscles, ligaments,
tendons, vertebrae and other structures and to break down the scar tissue
around the joints. The result of this stage of the healing process will be
improved biomechanical function and a strengthening of the overall
muscular-skeletal structure. Many of the postural distortions that have occurred
over the years due to repetitive use of the body can be removed during this
phase of the programme.
Optimal Health
The final phase of the wellness programme of structural care is reaching
optimum health of the structure and the nervous system. This results in a
flexible spine that moves in a fluid motion. Your vertebrae move easily,
your muscles are balanced and hold your structure in alignment, your discs,
tendons, and ligaments are strong, all this is reflected in as near as possible
the physiologically efficient posture.
Your recipient may have the occasional lapse into poor posture but the body
ultimately becomes self correcting and with the occasional treatment their
alignment is maintained.
