Seven signs that you need Ishta Spinal Touch

Who needs spinal touch?

The spine, which is a part of the musculoskeletal system, is constantly subjected to the forces of gravity and is responsible for carrying us around and protecting our more vulnerable internal organs. It is often an important aspect of our health that is overlooked.

To cope with the various onslaughts of modern life, it is essential to maintain a healthy, robust and aligned system. When your bones are beautifully aligned (as Nature intended) your muscles can relax. The more you slip and slump out of skeletal alignment and into postural distortion, the harder your muscles have to work to keep you from falling into a heap.

So, how can you tell if your musculoskeletal system is in alignment?

Years of training and experience, plus sophisticated analysis techniques, enable us, as structural practitioners, to detect changes in the musculoskeletal system but here are some simple things you can look-out for yourself.

1. Check the heels on your shoes.

Uneven wear on the heels of the shoes can be due to a change in the gait which can be the result of an apparent uneven leg length. This is most commonly caused by a misaligned pelvis and/or stress or strain along the length of the spinal area which leads to uneven weight distribution down the legs and into the feet. There are other congenital/clinical reasons for leg length differences and these are commonly addressed using orthotics or lifts on footwear.

2. Your jaw "clicks".

Surprisingly this can also be due to a distorted pelvis. If there are no dental reasons, it can be the result of problems in the joints and musculature of the neck. Always get a "clicky" jaw checked out at the dentist first.

3. You have to "crack" your neck, back, or other joints a lot.

Can be due to distortions in or around the various joints and also it can be due to distortions in other not apparently related parts of the body, e.g., problems in the feet can result in the neck area becoming distorted.

4. You can't turn your head or hips to either side easily and equally or without discomfort.

Reduced range of motion or pain on movement is often a sign of misalignments of joints.

5. You are often fatigued.

One of the possible causes can be the result of distortions in the spine in particular. The body is constantly trying to self correct any distortions and this requires energy which normally is being used for other processes.

6. Your foot flares out when walking.

To check, merely look at your feet as you walk. Do they both point forward, or does one foot appear to flare outward or inward? Do both? Foot flare may be a sign of a problem in the lower spine or hips.

7. You have poor posture.

Stand on two similar bathroom scales. The weight distribution should be about the same over each foot. If it is not, that's a sign that your spine, hips or head are possibly off centre.

These are some of the very simple checks you can carry out for yourself to monitor your own structural balance within the structure. If you are experiencing any of the above and would like to have a structural check-up, then see your local Ishta Spinal Touch practitioner.
