The Cloacal Response
What's it all about?
In one of the DVD's we show on the course Dr. Rosquist casually says that
Spinal Touch stimulates a cloacal response and then goes on to tell stories
about "filling the toilet bowl full" etc.
All very edifying I'm sure but what exactly is a cloacal response?
Cloaca
The word "cloaca" comes from the Latin and means sewer. The cloacal response
then is the way in which the body eliminates its toxic waste products of
metabolism.
These are often stored in the body when it is in a state of distortion. An
Ishta Spinal Touch alignment reduces this distortion allowing the toxic wastes
to be excreted.
"But what exactly is the route out?" I hear you ask.
The Route
The toxin is present inside the cell.
From there it has to cross the cell membrane into the interstitial fluid.
Next it collects in the lymphatic system.
From the lymph it goes into the blood.
From the blood to the liver, kidneys and lungs.
From the kidneys into the urine and excreted.
Frome the lungs into the breath and exhaled.
From the liver to the gall bladder.
From the gall bladder to the bile.
Frome the bile to the bowel.
From the bowel to the exit.
We look at this process in more detail on our Practitioner Course.
Cloacina
In fact the Romans had a goddess called Cloacina in whom they placed their
faith and trust for the wellbeing of Rome's sewers. In particular she was
the patron goddess over the Cloaca Maxima, the main sewer of the city.
Over time, the Romans bizarrely came to think of her in a multitude of other
ways including; as the goddess of purity, the goddess of filth and the protector
of sexual intercourse in marriage!
Recognition was paid to Cloacina in several ways
A shrine was built in her honour in the Forum and was called the Sacrum
Cloacina. What an intriguing name for Ishta Spinal Touch practitioners!
She had coins minted in her honour
Prayers were made
"O Cloacina, Goddess of this place,
Look on thy suppliants with a smiling face.
Soft, yet cohesive let their offerings flow,
Not rashly swift nor insolently slow."
Now that's a sentiment we can all agree with.
