Case Studies
A few of Sue's interesting case studies
Case study 1
65 year old female, presented in 2006 with sciatica which had started 15
years previously and had recurred on and off since. The pain radiated down
the left leg to the left lateral malleolus and she needed to use a walking
stick. She also has severe osteoarthritis in the left foot which affects
walking posture. After 8 weekly appointments there was a great improvement
in walking and a cessation of pain from the left leg sciatica. Her strides
were much longer and she felt much better in herself. The appointments were
extended to monthly and she continues to receive monthly treatments to maintain
her posture so she can walk around independently.
Case study 2
44 year old female presented with chronic neck problems and had been diagnosed
with spondilosis. As a result of her symptoms she had stopped work. After
three treatments at weekly intervals she was having more good than bad days
and her pain was limited to the shoulder area only. After seven treatments
during a 4 month period she returned to work.
This lady continues to have a regular check up every 2 months and after 4
years is still doing well.
Case study 3
8 years ago, 56 year old male presented with a sudden onset of right leg
sciatica, which was painful on sitting, standing and lifting. After 6 treatments
all his symptoms had subsided and he had fewer headaches, although not reported
at initial consultation.
He continued with a course of appointments until his posture stabilised which
took 5 appointments over the next 12 months. He is so impressed he has continued
with check ups every 6 months for the last 7 years and has remained, for
95% of the time, symptom free.
Case study 4
13 year old male was complaining of low back and neck pain sitting at school
and after sport. His posture was typical of a teenage boy, after 4 appointments
he was much more upright and symptom free. He is continuing with appointments
at 4 monthly intervals whilst he is still growing.
Case study 5
26 year old female, presented 7 years ago with a recent low back ache and
left sciatica in the mid left thigh and tension around the shoulder/neck
area. Treatment consisted of 2 chiropractic sessions with minimal changes
so on the third appointment I used Spinal Touch and there was considerable
improvement in the sciatica. After the 6th appointment the times between
appointments was extended to fortnightly and then to monthly. This person
was treated successfully throughout her two pregnancies. After each pregnancy
appointments have been more regular to help her deal with the extra stress
of carrying and feeding a new born. To date this person continues to receive
spinal touch at regular intervals and on the whole remains symptom free.
